What does Meili Designs mean?

The word Meili in Chinese translates into beautiful.  Since our product, and especially our customer, is both beautiful inside and out, we felt it important to incorporate such a powerful word into our company name.  Instead of using just the word beautiful, we chose Meili to show our pride in a country that we called home for two years, China.  Finishing with the word Designs helps our company to grow and expand, meeting the various needs of our customers by providing the most unique Designs possible.

What determines the worth of my pearls?

This is a very complicated question.  Just looking through our product line, you will see there are countless type of pearls.  To understand the value placed on pearls, you must understand the different shapes and sizes.  At this time, we only offer freshwater pearls.  Most of our round pearls are rated AA+ or more.  This rating takes into account size, shape, luster and overall appearance.  AAA rating is of the highest quality, and thus, most expensive.  Our goal is to bring our customers high quality pearl designs, while keeping the price below our competitors.  We do this by offering a wide range of pearl quality.  Not only do we sell the traditional round pearl, but we specialize in many different and fascinating, freshwater pearl shapes.  Within our catalog you will find coin peals, baroque pearls, seed pearls and many more.  Many of these shapes do not fall under the traditional rating system, instead they provide something different, something unique, something.....Meili!  For more information on pearls, please click here.

Do you sell anything besides pearls?

We initially started only with pearls.  While creating Designs, we realized that pearls complement many other items on a piece of jewelry.  After countless hours experimenting with many combinations, we decided to combine pearls with things such as turquoise, jasper, quartz, onyx and other semi-precious stones.  Adding other items like crystal, metal and selected silver accents helped to liven up our Designs.  Finding this so exciting, we are constantly updating our catalog to bring our customers more selection.  A fall 2007 selection is currently being added, and we've decided to include silk bags as well.  Future plans include dividing our Designs up into separate collections, providing our customers with an easier browsing experience while focusing on their favorite type of jewelry.

How do I care for my pearls?

Pearls are a naturally occurring substance on the Earth.  We like to treat the Earth with special treatment, and should do the same with pearls.  Water is the safest option when trying to clean your pearls.  Rather than soaking them in water, a simple, gentle rub usually will clean off any unwanted residue.  Never use ultrasonic jewelry cleaners, household sprays or perfume on pearls.  Lotions, hairsprays and oils also tend to have a negative effect on pearls.  Pearls like a moist climate, so please don't leave your pearls in overly dry areas, or direct sunlight.  More pearl care suggestions can be found here.  With a bit of care, your pearls are sure to be Meili for a long, long time!

What types of clasps do you put on your designs?

We put a variety of clasps on our Designs.  All rings and earrings are made with either sterling silver or gold.  Our bracelets and necklaces all come with a pre-selected clasp, but this can always be changed depending on the needs of the customer.  We have letters of the alphabet that represent our clasps, and we're almost up to z!  That means a great deal of options, including special Chinese character clasps, magnetic clasps, toggle clasps, C clasps and many, many more.  Most of these clasps are offered in sterling silver.  For the cost conscious, we also offer some basic stainless steel clasps.  If your bracelet or necklace comes with a pre-selected clasp that you would like to change, please contact us.  We can create custom designs just for you!  Custom charges apply.

Why are the website fonts, characters and format so messy?

In order to view our complete website, including our Chinese character name for Meili Designs, you will need to have the latest version of Internet Explorer.  You can download the newest version of Internet Explorer here.  If this still does not help translate the characters correctly, then you need to add "Asian text recognition" to windows.  This can usually be found in your control panel, under "add windows programs."  Sometimes going to the help drop down menu in Internet Explorer and clicking on windows update will solve this problem.  Not only will it help to view our website correctly, but updating windows regularly protects you against viruses and hackers.  Sometimes font size is set to large, with most of the page off screen, forcing you to scroll around.  This is easily corrected by changing to pixel sizes in the bottom right hand corner of Internet Explorer (i.e. - 1200 x 800).  Please email us with any questions and we would be more than happy to help.

Do you guarantee your products?

How do I become a sales associate or party representative?

If you would like to join the Meili team, please click on the information links located on the home page.  Both positions, sales associate or party representative give you direct access to our product line.  You would have the opportunity to sell Meili Designs, earn cash and/or credit, a generous discount and wonderful prizes.  We are looking for motivated and energetic team members to help introduce our product to their family and friends.

How can I place an order? 

You can click on the "ordering catalog" tab on the home page or click here.  You can then browse through our different varieties of jewelry, getting detailed ordering information when you click on a picture.  We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover.  If you would like to pay by check, please contact us on the feedback page and we'll arrange payment for you.  Our "Shopping Cart" is a completely secure, automated environment.  Once your order has been received, you will get a confirmation email/invoice.  Once the order has been shipped, you will get another email with a tracking number for the United States Postal Service.  All orders received through our website will be sent Priority Mail with delivery confirmation.  Of course, you can always place orders with your local sales associate or party representative.  Information on parties and festivals in your area is available on the home page.
